STATEMENT

"Inner Voices" speaks about universal issues but deals with them in a personal way. My paintings are metaphors about events that touch my soul and evoke deep emotions within me. My work develops intuitively, and builds like history towards a configuration of meaning through time. The paint surfaces are both substance and metaphor. By developing layered surfaces I suggest a time-line, one that not only traces past to present, but also continues in the future. I want my art to elicit emotions that penetrate the veneer of my viewers' daily life. Through my paintings, I create the awareness that humans have conscious choice and with that choice comes power. We do not inherit the future: we create it.
