Biography
Pauline Jones
Born in Merseyside in 1946, I knew at the age of 10 that finishing a picture was more important to me than playtime. I studied painting at the Central School of Art and Design in London and did a postgrad at the Slade .I fell out of the gallery system when I switched from painting landscapes to cracks in walls, full of existential angst. Over the years I earned my living doing graphics, animation ,book jackets and textile design, all to support my painting habit and let it unfold without pressure. After becoming enmeshed in Photorealism I nearly ground to a halt. A series of life events caused me to nosedive and during recovery, I discovered my painting territory at the tender age of 45. I am now prolific and showing work .I hope you are able to find a response to it. Drumflow
Artist’s Statement
My painting urge is to trap fugitive vision and passing sensation. To fix it in time and leave a trace of its passing is my obsession. The sensations arise from an intense momentary experience followed by the need to make the invisible – visible.
